I used Thieves cleaner and the grout in the area I scrubbed was so white I had to do the entire floor to match it up with the cleaned part. The sponge mop and Thieves got the grout a little whiter but it took a little effort with a brush to make it like new. The tile and grout are 20 years old. Orange oil (and lemon oil – which contains d-Limonene) can also be used safely around dogs and cats for these purposes:
-Keeping them away from places you don't want them going (keeping them off of furniture, away from plants, *deterring them from going back to peeing or marking in the same places), since most dogs and cats can't stand the strong smell of citrus
-Used to help kill and repel fleas, flies and mosquitoes in the home. I have come across some natural products that are sold at major pet retailers that contain the ingredient d-Limonene for use in the home. These products can also be used in a quick fix (while you are waiting for your oils to come in the mail!) if you start to have a flea problem in the home.
*If your dog or cat has started peeing/marking suddenly in places that are uncharacteristic of their behavior, or seem to go more often than normal (such as a cat that all of a sudden won't use the litter box), take them to a vet ASAP and have them checked to rule out any medical causes for their behavior
