May is Spring Cleaning Month!

by Jill Taylor

While thinking about tackling my spring cleaning I was wondering why I've always dreaded it. One reason I realized, was that no matter how many different "fragrances" the manufacturers added to their cleaning products to mask the chemical smells and make them more appealing to us, I was never a big fan of these smells. And as I studied more about health, I began to learn why I didn't care for these smells. As I began to live a more consciously healthy and vibrant lifestyle, my body began to tell me why I didn't like these smells. You see, we are exposed to some 65,000 chemicals per day. We Baby Boomers are exposed to more chemicals in one day than our grandparents were exposed to in their lifetimes!

Our bodies were divinely and wonderfully made and created to handle and overcome considerable assaults and stressors, but there's a point where enough is enough! Thousands of people have become sick simply because they have been exposed to too many synthetic chemicals. Petrochemicals (very prevalent in our environment in plastics, in our personal care products, and in our cleaning products) actually attach to the receptor sites of our cells and block our cells from receiving nutrients and functioning properly.

Ever have that "foggy headed" feeling, where it seems like a really big struggle to think clearly?

That's clogged receptor sites from too many chemicals.

And what about all the products that claim to be natural … can we even trust those claims any longer?

Here's what really happens …

Most times NATURAL is nothing more than a WORD that some clever marketing company just added into the description so they could sell more product 🙁  It usually means they have put an ingredient in that product that is natural (often an essential oil), but they fail to mention the other synthetic ingredients found in the product. Including that word "natural" is just MARKETING.

I challenge you to do the research on the ingredients in your cleaning products and read the MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets) on them… you'll be amazed…

So as I paid more attention to what I was breathing in, what I was eating and drinking, what products I was using on my body, and what products I was cleaning with, my body began to recognize when I was being exposed to a toxic chemical because I didn't feel good.

Let me tell you how I fell in love with cleaning …

The day I first used Thieves Household Cleaner, not only did my body feel good as it recognized this was a truly natural and health-supportive product, but I immediately fell in love with the smell! I have told people many times that because Thieves Household Cleaner smells so good, and my body feels so good while cleaning, "I use to dread it, and I love cleaning now!":-)

Thieves Household Cleaner contains Thieves essential oil blend consisting of the essential oils of cinnamon, clove, lemon, rosemary, and eucalyptus radiata. The name Thieves is based on the historical account from the 15th century in France. During the time of the Black Plague, four thieves rubbed their bodies with cloves, cinnamon, rosemary, and other aromatics while robbing victims of the killer disease. When captured they were offered a lighter sentence in exchange for their secret recipe.

Cinnamon and clove with their high eugenol content are extremely antiseptic. The other three are quite antiseptic as well, so they are great germ-killers. Lemon has been used as an antiseptic in hospitals in Europe, and lemon also contains d-limonene, which is known for its cancer-protective properties.

Because this blend has been so powerful for killing bacteria and microorganisms, while simultaneously increasing the strength of the immune system, it has been used in other products as well. The bacteria and germ-killing effects of Thieves has worked so well it has been added to other formulations such as toothpaste, mouthwash, throat lozenges, soap, and an anti-bacterial spray.

"I woke up one morning with the kind of sore throat you know will develop into strep. I didn't have a chance to get to the doctors to confirm what the throat infection was, because I popped a Thieves hard lozenge into my mouth and very carefully laid on my bed and lodged the lozenge on the sore side, mostly, without sucking on the lozenge. I just let it melt, which took about 1 hour… I could not believe that was the only lozenge I needed, to completely get rid of ALL discomfort. In fact I haven't been sick (except for the sniffles) since I started taking Thieves any time I don't feel well…  I LOVE THIS PRODUCT!"  – Mary Raitt

And then there's Thieves Spray – great for disinfecting counter tops and carrying in pocket or purse for disinfecting things you touch in public places. It's also another remedy for sore throats (safe enough to spray in throat and swallow!)

"After being away from home 10 full days, we returned to smell a distinct rotten odor in our kitchen drains. Lots of food scraps and crumbs because we cook from scratch and have no garbage disposal. Spraying 4-5 sprays of Thieves Household Cleaner removed the bad smell and of course dealt with the bacteria. No need for harsh chemicals. Thieves products all smell wonderful, especially in the kitchen."  – Dianne Hansen
